Business of the Month for August

Last month, someone else pointed a camera at us for a change.
A crew from the Village of Orland Park spent an afternoon in our studio asking questions, filming the space, watching us work. It's a strange thing to be on the other side of the lens after twenty-some years of asking people to trust the process. But it gave us a chance to say, out loud, something we don't say often enough: this work only means something because of the families who've let us into their lives, season after season, for over two decades.
The occasion was an honor! Wehmeier Portraits was named Business of the Month for August by the Village of Orland Park and was presented at that month’s Village Board meeting. We're grateful, and a little surprised by how much it meant to hear it said out loud in a room full of neighbors and people who've watched this community grow the way we have.
But if we're honest, the recognition isn't really the story. The story is the same one it's always been: families who show up not for a quick photo, but for something that will still mean something twenty years from now. Kids we've photographed since they were newborns, now graduating high school. Grandparents whose portraits now hang in the homes of grandchildren they never met. That's the part no video can really capture.
Thank you to the Village of Orland Park, and to every family who has trusted us with a piece of their story.
