5 Reasons to Schedule Your Family Portraits During the Summer Months

When is the best time for a family portrait?   NOW

Family life is busy, so we often take any time we can get to finally do the things we really want to do together – portrait sessions included.

However, summer is by far one of the best times to finally schedule your family portraits – here’s why.

1.  Schedules are More Flexible

During the school months, everyone’s schedules are a lot more hectic. From homework to after-school commitments, it’s difficult to also find time for family portraits. Many parents generally want to schedule their portraits sessions during the fall months in time for their holiday cards, but this just adds more pressure to that time of the year.

2.  Everyone Has a Bit of Color

Portraits always look better when everyone has a subtle, healthy glow. By scheduling your family portraits during the summer months, chances are, you will all have a slight tan from spending extra time outside. Always protect your skin when spending time outdoors though – never compromise the health of your skin because you think you need a deep tan for portraits. A subtle, natural tan is perfect.

3.  Everyone is Healthier and Happier

During the summer months, we often have the ability to sleep in a bit, ensuring your family is more relaxed and well rested for portraits. On top of this, there are also fewer illnesses going around, reducing the chances that you’ll need to reschedule your session.

4.  Embrace Children Who Are Away at College

We have 18 summers with our children before they head to college. Families with students returning to campus or leaving for the first time can walk by portraits that remind you every day of the bond you have created with those you love so deeply.

5.  You Can Focus on Other Things During Fall and Winter

Families usually have a lot going on during the fall and winter months. From school and family functions to holiday preparations, there is a lot to get done. Being able to scratch your family portraits off your list is a blessing and helps reduce some of the stress experienced later in the year.

Make this the year you skip the year-end portrait rush by getting your family portraits done earlier. In fact, just getting your booking out of the way now means you have more time to plan your portrait session, which means even less stress.
